FAQ

Philadelphia concrete driveway questions.

How much does a concrete driveway cost in Philadelphia?

Cost depends on the size of the drive, whether we’re tearing out the existing slab or pouring on a fresh sub-base, access to the site, and the finish you want. A small Philadelphia driveway runs a few thousand; larger drives with full tear-out, custom finish, and extensions run more.

We don’t publish square-foot prices because they’d mislead you — a tight drive in NE Philly can run more than a bigger drive on an open Bucks County lot. The free walk-through gets you a written quote with one clear number.

Can you remove an existing asphalt driveway and replace it with concrete?

Yes — that’s a regular request. We tear out the old asphalt, rebuild the sub-base properly (compacted stone, correct grade, drainage in the right direction), and pour a fresh concrete drive. Done right, the new slab outlives a couple of asphalt re-coats and looks better doing it.

Most asphalt-to-concrete conversions wrap in 2–3 days on site. We haul off the asphalt; you don’t deal with disposal.

How long does a concrete driveway last?

A properly poured concrete driveway lasts 30+ years in Philadelphia, even with the freeze-thaw cycles every winter. Three things make the difference: prep (compacted base, proper grade), the pour (joints in the right spots, edges clean), and finishing (curing, sealing).

Driveways that fail early almost always have one of those steps short-changed. We don’t skip any of them.

Can we extend our existing driveway?

Often, yes. Two questions matter: is the existing slab in good enough shape to keep, and can we tie the new pour into it cleanly with proper joints and matching grade? If both check out, we extend it. If the existing slab is past saving, we’ll be straight with you and recommend a full replacement instead.

Extensions are common around added garages, second cars, and parking pads at the back of the lot.

Do you work with EP Henry pavers, or only poured concrete?

Both, and we mix them. We’re an authorized EP Henry installer; for driveways, the most popular look right now is a poured concrete drive with EP Henry banding around the perimeter or as a contrasting border at the apron — you get the durability of a concrete slab with a finished, residential look at the edges.

If you want a full paver driveway, we do those too. We’ll walk you through the trade-offs at the estimate.

Do you sub the work out to other crews?

No. The person who quotes the job is the person who pours it. Marcello and his father work on every driveway personally, with the same in-house crew that’s been with the family for years — same equipment, same standards, every single pour.

If you’re tired of “the guy who came out wasn’t the guy who showed up,” that’s the difference here.

How long does the work take, and when can we drive on it?

Most driveway replacements are 2–3 days on site: day one demo and prep, day two pour, day three finish work and cleanup. New installs on rough lots take a little longer (more grade work).

The fresh slab cures over the next several days. You can usually drive on it after about a week — we’ll give you specific guidance based on the weather we pour into.

When’s the best time of year to pour a driveway?

Mid-spring through fall is the sweet spot — temperatures consistently above 40°F during the cure window. We pour into early winter when the forecast cooperates, but we don’t pour in freezing conditions.

If you want a spring pour, call us in late winter to get on the schedule. Driveways are our most-requested service every spring; the calendar fills up.
